Medal of Honor: Lessons of Personal Bravery and Self-Sacrifice Webcast Registration
Friday, February 24, 2012
On February 24, 2012, from 10:00 AM – 11:15 AM, you can join thousands of teachers and students across the country by tuning in for a live webcast of Medal of Honor: Lessons of Personal Bravery and Self-Sacrifice, part of the acclaimed Speaker Series for Students at the Walter and Leonore Annenberg Presidential Learning Center at the Ronald Reagan Presidential Foundation. This remarkable panel will feature four of America’s greatest heroes and role models discussing how their stories of bravery act as a call to service in general. Classrooms from across the country can submit questions online to:
- Walter Ehlers (World War II): Received the Medal of Honor for conspicuous gallantry and intrepidity at the risk of his life above and beyond the call of duty on 9-10 June 1944, near Goville, France.
- Patrick Brady (Vietnam): While serving in the Republic of Vietnam, Brady commanded a UH-1H ambulance helicopter, volunteered to rescue wounded men from a site in enemy held territory which was reported to be heavily defended and to be blanketed by fog.
- Bruce Crandall (Vietnam): On 14 November 1965 Major Crandall completed a total of 22 flights, most under intense enemy fire, retiring from the battlefield only after all possible service had been rendered to the Infantry battalion. His actions provided critical resupply of ammunition and evacuation of the wounded.
- Salvatore Giunta (Afghanistan): Specialist Giunta's unwavering courage, selflessness, and decisive leadership while under extreme enemy fire were integral to his platoon's ability to defeat an enemy ambush and recover a fellow American soldier from the enemy.
