Above and Beyond (Just Names and Dates): History and Social Science Instruction for the 21st Century

Text Size

8:30am-3:00pm

Co-sponsored by the Walter and Leonore Annenberg Presidential Learning Center and the Cal State Northridge Writing Project

Authentic history and social science instruction has always been about more than long lists of names and dates. CCCSS literacy standards provide teachers with opportunities to teach students to think and use language like historians and social scientists, and to become informed and engaged citizens. However, confronting the development of revised lessons and instructional routines can be daunting.  Don’t tackle this work alone! Join like-minded history and social science colleagues for a collaborative curriculum development workshop.
