“We must make tough choices now. We must navigate through this period of transition and realignment, and we must face up to the realities and challenges that our defense enterprise confronts today…so we will be ready for the challenges of the future. If there was one legacy of Ronald Reagan, it is that legacy.” – Secretary of Defense Chuck Hagel, during remarks at the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library, November 15, 2014

On Saturday, November 15, 2014, the second annual Reagan National Defense Forum (RNDF) was held at the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library and Museum.  RNDF brings together leaders and key stakeholders in the defense community – including, members of Congress, civilian officials and military leaders from the Defense Department and industry – to address the health of our national defense and stimulate a discussion that promotes policies that strengthen the US military in the future.

During the day long conference, speakers addressed topics such as “Defense after the Election,” “Heroism and Valor in Today’s Battlefield,” “Reforming how the Pentagon does Business,” “Cyber Warfare,” and “A View of Defense from Wall Street.”  Keynote speakers included Secretary of Defense Chuck Hagel and Admiral James Winnefeld, Vice Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff.  Panelists included General Joseph Dunford (Commandant, US Marine Corps), Dr. Robert Gates, Admiral Jonathan Greenert (Chief of Naval Operations), Deborah Lee James (Secretary of the Air Force), Jeh Johnson (Secretary of Homeland Security), Leon Panetta, Senator John McCain and many others.
