The Reagan Presidential Foundation Scholars Program awards scholarship money to graduating seniors from Ventura County, California, high schools who exemplify outstanding leadership, character, communication skills, academic achievement, and commitment to Ventura County. A total of $50,000 is awarded annually in awards that generally range from $2,500 to $7,000, plus a grant for teachers chosen by the top award recipients.
In applying for this award, candidates honor both our nation’s 40th President and his lasting legacy of leadership. Candidates must:
• demonstrate leadership skills and strong personal character at school or within the community;
• receive three recommendations by authority figures who have observed them in a leadership role, including a teacher;
• demonstrate a commitment to academics (3.0 or greater GPA or equivalent);
• be a citizen of the United States of America;
• graduate from a Ventura County, California, high school in Winter 2011 or Spring 2012; and
• use scholarship funds for student tuition, room, and board while pursuing a bachelor’s degree at an accredited U.S. college or university in Fall 2012.
Applications for the 2012 Reagan Presidential Foundation Scholars Program are being accepted between Jan. 9, 2012 and March 9, 2012.
